➕August 2026➕
Toronto’s housing market remained balanced in August, but the supply of available homes declined more noticeably than sales. With fewer properties to choose from, buyers may begin to face more competition in some neighbourhoods.
Prices were relatively stable overall, although results varied by property type. Detached homes held steady, while townhouses experienced the most significant year-over-year adjustment.
Lower borrowing costs have improved affordability compared with last year, but concerns surrounding Canada–U.S. trade, inflation and the broader economy continue to keep some buyers on the sidelines.
If inventory continues to tighten, buyers may face a choice between waiting for greater economic certainty and purchasing before competition—and potentially prices—begin to increase. For sellers, improving market conditions could create new opportunities as Toronto moves into the fall market.
For now, preparation, pricing and an understanding of the conditions affecting your specific neighbourhood and property type remain essential. If you’re thinking of making a move, let’s talk strategy.
